Chronicles - issue # 420001

September 18, 2008 00:29CST

The early part of September saw us whisked away on a blurring trip to Omaha, Nebraska;  Beginning Wednesday September 3rd in Milwaukee at approximately 20:00CST, we played to an enthused crowd @ the Twisted Fork, stopped home for a quick rinse, then hit the road for 8 straight hours.  Arriving in Omaha felt as if we had circled back around to Milwaukee, in that the landscapes were eerily similar.  We played that night at the Benson Grind for MAMF (mid America music festival) and had the fortunate opportunity of seeing some of the best acts from around the Midwest all congregated in one giant music extravaganza.  Unfortunately we could not stay.

In the morning, after some debate with the Hotel staff regarding the availability of breakfast foods, we were back on the road for 5 straight hours for a show that night in Dubuque, Iowa @ 180 Main.  The place was a throwback to colonial America fully equipped with an excellent sound system.  Immediately following the show we drove 2.5 hours straight back to Milwaukee.  Caught a few Zzzzz's then woke up and put my suit on to go play a wedding ceremony @ 4pm in Milwaukee.

Following the wedding, we got in the car and drove 3 hours to Green Bay, WI to play @ Jimmy Sea's.  We stayed in Green Bay that night, and after much debate with the Hotel staff regarding the accessibility of the pool facilities, headed for home in the morning.  We got a few days rest, until Thursday.  We played in Milwaukee @ Trinity on Thursday night, played a show in Stoughton, WI on Friday.  Slept in the rain that night at Lake Kegonsa State park, and after much debate with park Rangers over the exact times in which we could or could not purchase firewood, headed back to Milwaukee for a show @ the Bad Genie Saturday night.

On very little sleep we woke up early on Sunday morning to play for the NAMI Bike n' Hike in Waterford, WI.  Immediately following the show in Waterford we drove down through the pleasantry of the Illinois toll way system, to Chicago for a show that night @ Club Lucky for smART fest.  Then reluctantly and happily trudged back home for some well deserved sleep.

If this summary was too confusing...tell me about it.  The gist is that we played 10 shows in the last 14 days and September is only half over.  Tonight we play the Up & Under in Milwaukee and the Bad Genie in Milwaukee on Friday. Then Saturday we go to Chicago for a ride on the Illinois toll way to play a gig @ Reggie's Music Joint.  Stop by if you're around.  Added incentive...Larry Hubbard will be playing Bass Guitar with us in Milwaukee this weekend.  Next weekend we are @ The Frequency in Madison on September 26th and @ TG's in Kenosha on September 27th.  Until next time, have fun, and be sure to give as much grief as you possibly can to all of your future Hotel staff members.

Trickle Up

Such blindness,

Blatant willingness

To avoid any and all existence.

Chosen ignorance,

Practiced arrogance,

Relying on the spoils of others past enhancements.

All is well,

Relish your slumber

Awake while in the midst of falling.

Before you shatter,

Do not be forgetting,

That according to others, none of this matters.

Perhaps now though

Regarding the current show

It’s been enough to shake the foundation.

A much needed

And wanted displeasure,

That I am regretfully thankful for receiving.

Motivated

Regulate it,

Trickle UP theory and strategy is needed.
